Intro to my HCG Diet Journey - Round 1 Days 1-12
Welcome to my blog. My name is Cj. I am 11 calendar days into this diet now. I was late starting this blog because blogger was being a pita. I've researched this extensively for about 4 months now. It started with a radio commercial advertising the HCG diet. My immediate thought was, "HCG? That's the hormone when you are pregnant! That sounds stupid!". I put it out of my mind and then a week later saw a forum thread about the HCG diet on a forum I frequent, from ladies that I've known for quite some time. I started reading....all 534 pages of posts on that thread. The thread was at that point 3 years old from when it was started. The lady that started the thread was judged and bashed by the other ladies, then one by one, more ladies started to join because they saw the success...AND more importantly, had taken the time to read Pounds and Inches by DR. A.T.W. SIMEONS. There's alot of info available out there. Some of it is garbage. Let me save you some of the time and effort of hours of research I put in by directing you here: HCG Diet Forums. There you will find all the answers to your many questions, such as, "Where do I get the HCG?", and "What are the side effects, if any?".
I have decided to not hide what
method of weight loss I am doing. I read the book to understand the science behind the diet. I've followed many ladies' journeys from beginning to end, and have seen their before and after photos, showing that it definitely sculpts the body, and leaves very little abnormal fat behind (pun intended, lol). Ignorant people have no jurisdiction, and are in no way qualified to judge someone on that topic which they are ignorant about.

Therefore, I have decided to hold my head high and not hide that I am doing the HCG diet.
R1P1D1:
So jumping to my first load day. I was looking forward to my 2 load days. I even compiled a list of really fatty things to eat, but once I took my first sublingual dose of Corion, I was sooo not hungry. I forced myself nonetheless to eat buffalo wings, 2 slices of cheesecake, eggnog, ice cream, a Costco chicken bake, and many other things, but didn't particularly enjoy any of it.
I noticed immediately that I had a little nausea after taking the dose that lasted a couple hours. I'm sure this isn't typical. I've always had severe hyperemesis gravidarum (which is a medical term for morning sickness so bad that it endangers the baby's growth and usually lands the mom in the hospital) in my pregnancies, so I'm sure I'm really sensitive to even small amounts of HCG. I did manage to record a vlog my first 2 days. Here's the first. My starting pre-load weight was 163lbs even. I'll edit this
R1P1D2:
On my 2nd load day, I had pretty much the same menu as the first day, only with a few changes, like a couple of Chicken and Monterey cheese Chimichangas, and I also went to a catered wedding with a full dinner. They had petite walnut, chicken, onion, grilled cheese sandwiches that were divine. I had one sandwich worth of that, some meatballs, and some roast pork, and salad and cake. That day my emotions were being highly affected by the HCG. I was very weeping and cranky, as well as nauseous. This has all balanced out now. Here's my second vlog:
Because I didn't keep a journal or vlog from VLCD 1-9, I will try to recall some of the things I experienced.
VLCD days 1 and 2:
I was not hungry at all. These days went by super smooth.
VLCD day 3: I work a very physical job. I was feeling quite tired and lethargic by mid-day. I'm sure this is because I must burn at least 500 cals on my job alone. Other than that, things were great.
VLCD day 4: Went great. I was the tiniest bit hungry between meals, but once I was eating my meals, I had a very hard time finishing them.
VLCD day 5: That day was awful, and this is why...I took my sublingual dose in the morning, and accidently swallowed it within a few minutes. Because I had gotten most of my info from HCG vloggers on YouTube, I was misinformed that you have to hold the dose under your tongue for 15 minutes. I have since learned from many sources, that your body absorbs it all within the first 2 minutes or so. Not knowing this, I freaked out that I didn't get much into my blood stream, and took another half dose. Well, I was already aware that if your dose is too high, you'll have chew-your-arm-off kind of hunger. Let me tell you, I had the worst hunger I've experienced in my life. Never even in my days of anorexia from the ages of 19-21 had I EVER had hunger this bad. It was terrible. I went on the HCG forums and learned that I had taken a dose and a half. Silly me. I skipped my evening dose so the HCG would work out of my bloodstream some.
VLCD day 6: I skipped both doses, and had no hunger, because my HCG levels had balanced back out. The day went great.
VLCD day 7: I worked a full shift at my very physical job. I decided to make it a 100% protein day. I skipped my fruits, veggies, and melbas (I always skip my melbas, as do many others), and had only chicken and beef for all of my 500 cals that day. I felt great. What I learned from that day, was that when I work a full shift, my body needs the protein. So, from now on, work days will be 100% protein days. I only work 2 days a week, so it's doable.
VLCD 8-9: I had run out of meats, and had no money to buy more. I did have fat free cottage cheese on hand which is allowed occasionally on the protocol. So for 2 days, I had it for all my portions of protein. I believe that the nutritional content of fat free cottage cheese has probably changed since 1954 when the protocol was written, as I noted that it has 5g of sugar per serving. Having said that, my cravings were off the charts both days probably due to the sugar. I cheated last night at a Halloween get-together and had a hotdog weiner. No bun, or condiments, just plain dog.
VLCD 10 (today): I woke up today expecting a stall or a gain, but actually lost another pound. I've kept track of my daily losses since I started, and I'll add them to the blog soon. I had another serving of cottage cheese for a snack, then made it out to the store to stock up on meats. Because I skip the grissini or melba toast, I always have a 3rd portion of protein. Today I had baked chicken breast topped with a Spinach, Mint, Lemon, Strawberry Pesto. It was so good. My cravings went away almost immediately. No more cottage cheese for me on P2. For dinner, I had Cod baked in lemon juice with a sprinkle of my fish taco seasoning (which I'll add the recipe for at a later time) topped with a cabbage salsa. Tomorrow I will add my before and day 10 pics and stats.
Thanks for taking the time to read. Happy releases everyone!
